"Among the post-Soviet countries, there are several countries where sanctions exist. There are 3 such countries in total: Russia, Belarus and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan, like Russia, copes with this sanctions regime quite successfully. "What is happening now has no fundamental importance for the fate of your country and will not."
Russian political scientist Oleg Kuznetsov stated, in his statement to Ednews.
He further said that he is not trying to show the place Azerbaijan occupies in the modern world, but to show the place European politicians want it to occupy based on their understanding of the world order:
"Azerbaijan is a dirty gasoline pump for Europe, as Barack Obama once said about Russia. Why? Because it is seen as a hydrocarbon source. Everyone knows well that Israel is the last consumer of Azerbaijani oil. The final consumer of Azerbaijani natural gas is Italy. It so happened that your country established such economic and other relations with other countries. At the same time, they clearly understand that the consumer circle of your hydrocarbons in Europe is quite limited and local."
The political scientist said that Western countries have the same attitude towards Hungary, which is biased towards their policies:
"Since Azerbaijan's opportunities to exist in the world market are clear, countries that are not economically connected with Azerbaijan in this fundamental issue can use political pressure against Azerbaijan and act in any way. A clear example of this can be the position of Hungary. Hungarians are well aware of who they are dealing with and who they are friends with, so they take their stand on many issues, for example, within the framework of the conflict around Ukraine. That is, the Hungarians take a very principled and strict position regarding military aid and Ukraine's admission to NATO or the EU, despite joining them during the imposition of sanctions against Russia, for example, and at the same time, the Hungarians take a very strict position regarding Azerbaijan in all European issues. they have It so happened that from the first days of Ilham Aliyev's presidency, he was able to reach an agreement with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the establishment of special relations between the two countries. Therefore, everyone understands very well that Azerbaijan has its friends in Europe, and that is why talks about some kind of consolidated sanctions against Azerbaijan and Russia by the European Union, of course, certain types of European politicians and Euro-bureaucrats in this matter It is nothing but an attempt to create political "hype" for themselves, to gain votes and prestige for themselves."
The political scientist thinks that Azerbaijan, Serbia, and Hungary are foreign countries for the West:
"This fall, there will be elections in Europe, and therefore they want to achieve this thanks to "both themselves and foreigners" (using all means), and it turns out that now in the eyes of European politicians, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Russia, Serbia, Turkey are "foreign" " belonged to the category. Therefore, if we look at who the official Baku is establishing relations with now, it is establishing relations with those countries which are unreliable in the eyes of London, Brussels and Paris, i.e. the old, anti-Soviet Europe. Therefore, the most traditional centers of the European Union, of course, have their position. And so, based on this, those who want to intensify the conflict and build a political career on the eve of the next elections are now making a statement against Baku. And I think that this is the way to think about this topic."
