Amazon.com Inc. is planning to introduce a new paid subscription for its voice assistant Alexa, Business Insider reported on Wednesday citing sources with knowledge on the matter, alongside internal documents it obtained.
According to the media outlet, the new version will be called "Alexa Plus" and will provide customers with artificial intelligence (AI) technology that is more conversational and personalized. The sources said that the current launch deadline is June 30.
The tech giant is working on revamping Alexa, as the technology is sharing some inaccurate information, according to external tests conducted. "If this fails to get revenue, Alexa is in trouble," one source warned.
