The Institute for Eurasian Turkic Countries under the Dongduk Women’s University (South Korea) has published a unique 8-volume publication entitled “Encyclopedia of Turkic Humanities”, Ednews reports.
This work is the result of a fundamental research project implemented in 2018-2023 with the financial support of the National Research Foundation of Korea. The project, in which 21 authors participated, was personally supervised by Professor Eunkyung Oh, the Director of Institute for Eurasian Turkic Studies. It is also noteworthy that Professor Eunkyung Oh is also a representative of International Eurasia Press Fund.
Professor Eunkyung Oh established the ‘Institute for Eurasian Turkic Countries’ as an affiliated research center at Dongduk Women’s University in February 2016 to promote domestic Turkic studies research. It was surprising that a research institute related to Turkic studies was established at Dongduk Women’s University, a wasteland of Turkic studies, so much so that it was considered an unusual event in the history of Dongduk Women’s University’s 100th anniversary. Over a short period of time, the Institute for Eurasian Turkic Countries established itself as Korea’s only Turkic studies research institute and grew into a key research institute for Turkic studies in Korea both at home and abroad. The expectations of Turkic countries for this Institute were so special that the Azerbaijani government awarded an achievement award to Chairman Wonyoung Cho, who allowed the establishment of the Turkic Studies Institute, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country.
As mentioned in the introduction of the work, “Encyclopedia of Turkic Humanities” covers all humanities subjects from language, literature, history, art, geography, folklore, and religion of the Turkic World (Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Russian Federation’s Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Khakassia, Tuva and Sakha Republic, as well as Xinjiang-Uighur Autonomous Region of China).
Currently, there is a diversified cooperation between the International Eurasia Press Fund and its president Umud Mirzayev and Mrs. Eunkyung Oh. With the initiative of the head of IEPF, this book will be a gift for the readers of Azerbaijan who are interested in the Korean language.
The publication, prepared in Korean language, consisting of 8 volumes with over 2,000 headwords and a total of 4,500 pages.
