Today, May 3rd, the European Union's representative office in Azerbaijan is hosting an event focused on the "Team Europe Initiative on Mine Action in Azerbaijan."
Ednews reports that the event is attended by key figures from both Azerbaijani and European authorities, the event features notable participants such as Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration; Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of Mine Action Agency of The Republic of Azerbaijan; and Gert Jan Koopman, Director General of the European Commission for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, who also serves as Head of the European Union Representation in Azerbaijan.
Ambassador Peter Michalko and ambassadors from various European Union member states in Azerbaijan are also in attendance.
Additionally, prominent figures from civil society organizations and the media, including Umud Mirzayev, President of the International Eurasia Press Fund; Hafiz Safikhanov, Chairman of the "Azerbaijan Campaign Against Landmines" Public Union; and Karabakh veteran and journalist Rey Karimoghlu, are participating in the event.
The gathering aims to address crucial issues surrounding mine action efforts in Azerbaijan, reflecting the collaborative efforts of the European Union and Azerbaijani stakeholders in tackling this pressing humanitarian concern.
